چکیده

A photochemical functionalization process which passivates the porous silicon surface of optical biosensors has been optimized as a function of the thickness and the porosity of the devices. The surface modification has been characterized by contact angle measurements. Fluorescence measurements have been used to investigate the stability of the DNA single strands bound to the nanostructured material. A dose-response curve for an optical label-free biosensor in the 6-80 μM range has been realized.

Efficient Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer between Quantum Dots and Gold Nanoparticles Based on Porous Silicon Photonic Crystal for DNA Detection

A novel assembled biosensor was prepared for detecting 16S rRNA, a small-size persistent specific for Actinobacteria. The mechanism of the porous silicon (PS) photonic crystal biosensor is based on the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between quantum dots (QDs) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) through DNA hybridization, where QDs act as an emission donor and AuNPs serve as a fluoresc...

Optical DNA Sensing Based on Resonant Porous Silicon Structures

Porous silicon is a suitable host material for biosensing applications due to its high surface area to volume ratio, which enables substantial infiltration of biomolecules. Resonant waveguides can be fabricated from porous silicon based on a two layer porous silicon structure. Light is coupled into the waveguide only at a particular angle of incidence. Biomolecular binding inside the pores indu...

Hydatid detection using the near-infrared transmission angular spectra of porous silicon microcavity biosensors

Hydatid, which is a parasitic disease, occurs today in many regions worldwide. Because it can present a serious threat to people's health, finding a fast, convenient, and economical means of detection is important. This paper proposes a label- and spectrophotometer-free apparatus that uses optical biological detection based on porous silicon microcavities. In this approach, the refractive index...

Structural and optical properties of n- type porous silicon– effect of etching time

Porous silicon layers have been prepared from n-type silicon wafers of (100) orientation. SEM, FTIR and PL have been used to characterize the morphological and optical properties of porous silicon. The influence of varying etching time in the anodizing solution, on structural and optical properties of porous silicon has been investigated. It is observed that pore size increases with etching tim...
